Repurposing Your Content

Tweak a Popular Recipe

When you understand why your audience likes a recipe, you can make small adjustments to it that will keep it an audience favorite, but will provide you with new content for a whole new post.

Turn Into Social Media Content

This is such an easy way to repurpose content, especially with how popular video and Instagram reels are right now. For example, you might have a blog post where you share a tip on making a popular recipe and you could turn that tip into a reel that you share on Instagram. Get creative! There are so many ways that you can turn your blog content into something that is easy to pull together because you already have a lot of the pieces! You’re just formatting it and packaging it in a different way for your audience that can also expand your reach.

Using Popular Content for More Ideas

Popular Content Tells You What Readers Like and Are Searching on Google

Your popular content can be a great gauge that can tell you what your readers already like. Take time to look at which recipes have done really well and pull ideas from those.

For a lot of food bloggers, you have a lot of content that is performing well in organic searches, which means that you are mostly having people coming to your recipe from either Google or Pinterest. If you are able to make more content that is similar in topic to that post it is likely to be favored with Google, so this is a great way to take a concept and make it a little bit broader and see where you can fill in the gaps. Your highest organic traffic to posts also tells you what Google considers you an expert in. Even if it’s just one post, it has proven to be a top ranking post. Which means more content that is similar is likely to be favorable to Google!

Repurpose a Part of a Recipe for a New Post

Look at your popular content and see if you can repurpose part of a recipe into a new blog post! This is a great way to use something that already exists and has performed well, but to take it and package it up in a different way. A good example of this would be if you have a marinade or a sauce or some other part of a recipe that you could turn into its own blog post. What you will find over time is that the more you can take parts and pieces of recipes that you’ve already shared, the easier it becomes to write those blog posts, and they take a lot less time rather than starting completely from scratch with a brand new recipe.

Turning Your Popular Content into Resources

Use Content to Create How-To Posts

When we are able to create resource blog posts that are not just recipes for our readers we really are able to stand out as an expert in our topic. Take ideas from the topics that have already performed well, such as your top 10 blog posts, and then see what types of how to posts you might be able to create from those. Instead of having a grilled chicken recipe you may have a post on the best way to grill chicken, it’s just a slightly different way of presenting the information.

Grouping Recipes into Round Ups or a Series

If you do a series where you’re focusing on one topic for a certain amount of blog posts, you can easily turn that into a round up. Later when you have completed that series, this is not only going to help you to create those resources but it’s also going to help you to batch your content and to get laser focused as you’re talking about one topic in particular.

  • Content Planning and Off Time Planning

Everyone has a strategy for planning their content. I have two methods that work for new bloggers as well as older sites. I like to call it the view from 30,000 feet! We work in quarters and build content around popular days within them. Having a realistic expectation of what is do-able for our work schedule. We also draw a hard line in the sand when it comes to taking time off. Burn out is real so in my mind, planning that down time is equally important for the life of your business!

hey friend, i’m madison

Food blogger turned web designer

I’ve been where you are. Growing fast, feeling overwhelmed by the tech side of things, and realizing that somewhere between hitting 100k sessions and launching that new revenue stream, the foundations of your business got left behind.

I started out as a food blogger, so I get it. The constant juggling. The feeling that your site doesn’t match who you’ve become. The frustration of working way too hard while your brand and tech hold you back.

That’s why I created Grace + Vine Studios—to help monetized food bloggers like you finally catch up. Whether it’s your branding, your website, or just figuring out what the heck comes next, I’m here to help you build a business that reflects where you are now and actually improves your life instead of consuming it.
